About twenty minutes outside the city center of Toluca is the Instituto Cultural Mexiquense. Arriving to this cultural complex that holds several museums, libraries, and a large park, it feels like a world apart from the traffic and congestion of Toluca. It’s surprising that so many cultural resources are so far outside the city, but I definitely appreciated the peace and quiet that the Centro Cultural offered. Lydia and I visited the Centro Cultural this past Friday on our day off. For 10 pesos you can visit the Museo de arte moderno, Museo de Culturas Populares, and the Museo de Antropología and Historia. Quite a deal. After visiting all three, we walked about ten steps outside the complex to a popular taco stand and ate some delicious tacos while admiring the view of the Nevado de Toluca. Not bad, Toluca.
